Innovation Scouts Final Report

The Innovation Scouts project took a different approach than in a classroom. As the Associate Director of the Iowa State University Virtual Reality Applications Center (VRAC), I often ask graduate students to show demos of their technology projects for visiting faculty and business leaders. Some of these students are quite skilled at giving a brief yet powerful technology pitch, and I intended with the Innovation Scouts program to harness that skill and motivation and convince some of them to transform their pitch to a business pitch and potentially participate in the Iowa State Business Plan Competition.

I emailed the VRAC email list and also pigeonholed a couple talented students 1-on-1 and gathered a group of 5 graduate students to meet with a local business incubation mentor from the SBDC.
